Fellowship: Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The objective of the fellowship is to provide opportunities for the fellow to be trained and competent in all aspects of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.  The fellow gains clinical and operative experience in aesthetic, reconstructive and congenital facial plastic surgery throughout the fellowship year and is provided progressive responsibility intra-operatively as well as in the peri-operative management of patients. The fellow spends three days per week with Dr. Larrabee in the operating room and office. Dr. Larrabee has a high volume aesthetic facial plastic surgery practice that is balanced by the primarily reconstructive experience obtained the two other days per week the fellow spends at Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center operating with other faculty. The fellow also spends two days per month operating at Seattle Children’s Hospital performing microtia repair.

There are ample opportunities for both clinical and basic science research in which the fellow participates a part of an original research project approved by the Fellowship Committee and the Research Committee of the AAFPRS. The fellow also writes the Highlights portion of the journal that summarizes key articles within each issue.
