Charles Cummings, M.D.
Charles Cummings, M.D., was chair of UW Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery from 1978 to 1991. From 1991-2003, he was Andelot Professor and Chair, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, at Johns Hopkins. He was the medical director for Johns Hopkins International from 2004-2011, and he has been interim director of the departments of Dermatology and, subsequently, Orthopaedics, each for two-year stints.
Dr. Cummings is past president of the American Society for Head and Neck Surgery and has served on the board of directors of the American Board of Otolaryngology for 22 years. Additionally he is a past president of the Association of Academic Departments of Otolaryngology, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, American Broncho-Esophagological Society, and Association of Academic Departments of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
He has served as chair of the Residency Review Committee for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and chair of the Advisory Council for Otolaryngology to American College of Surgeons. Currently he is chair of Hospital Staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
