Bonilla Named Feldman Award Recipient

The 2024 Odessa Brown Ken Feldman Award recipient is UW Oto-HNS assistant professor Juliana Bonilla-Velez, MD, recognized for her outstanding work in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in healthcare. She founded the Spanish Otolaryngology Clinic at Seattle Children's Hospital, the first of its kind in the nation, providing language-concordant care to Spanish-speaking patients. Her clinic fosters a collaborative environment where a multidisciplinary team - including nurses, interpreters, and medical assistants - ensures patients receive high quality care in their native language.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Bonilla-Velez has conducted impactful research on the social determinants of health and improving care for non-English speaking families. Her efforts have significantly enhanced healthcare access and equity, while mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders in DEI-focused care.
