Biography
Dr. Giliberto has been a member of the University of Washington Faculty since 2019. After completing his fellowship training at the University of Washington in 2016, he was an assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati for 3 years. He completed his residency in otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati / Cincinnati Children’s program in 2015 and earned his medical degree through the Dartmouth/Brown program.
Dr. Giliberto's specific clinical interests include medical laryngology (chronic cough, globus, and throat pain), open and endoscopic airway procedures, and neurolaryngology. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, where he is actively involved in the Young Physician Section.
Outside of direct patient care, Dr. Giliberto is passionate medical informatics and improving information technology use specifically for surgeons through customization. He is a member of the national Epic otolaryngology specialty steering committee and has his physician builder certification. Specifically, his focus of Epic optimization involves custom procedure SmartForms and prospective simultaneous data collection to improve clinical documentation, billing, and research within the medical center.

Clinical Interests
Dr. Giliberto believes that successful treatment of disorders of the throat can lead to great gains in quality of life and work productivity. To best tailor the treatment to the patient, he utilizes shared decision making between the physician and patient. By balancing treatment options, Dr. Giliberto enjoys helping his patients navigate complex medical decisions so they understand their options and can select a treatment pathway that prioritizes what matters most to them. He treats the full range of disorders of the throat including complex airway, voice, swallowing, and neurolaryngology.

Research Focus
Dr. Giliberto focuses his clinical research projects on chronic cough and specifically on improving outcomes of neurogenic cough. His current research projects look to improve the specialty’s understanding of this multifactorial presentation. In addition, he is interested in studying how medical records are utilized and how the electronic health record can be leveraged to improve the physician and patient experience.
