In 2016, Dr. Washington commissioned into the United States Navy, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise. As the Regional Hearing Conservation Program Manager and Department Head at Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Command Bremerton and Naval Hospital Yokosuka, Japan, she provided comprehensive oversight of hearing conservation through direct patient care, data analysis, and strategic communication with command leaders and stakeholders. Her efforts ensured the hearing health and safety of over 30,000 noise-exposed personnel across six diverse service sites.

Dr. Washington represented the Navy in a collaborative Tri-Service initiative alongside the Army and Air Force. Together, they enhanced the Department of Defense's primary metrics tracking system, delivering actionable insights on servicemember hearing health that influenced strategic decisions by the Chief of Naval Operations.

While stationed in Japan, she played a pivotal role in earning the recognition of Naval Hospital Yokosuka’s Audiology Department as the Navy’s Best of Best in 2017. She also fostered strong international relations by coordinating collaborative efforts between U.S. and Japanese medical facilities, military personnel, and officials.

Committed to promoting health equity and equal opportunity, Dr. Washington served as the Equal Opportunity Program Manager at Navy Medicine Readiness & Training Command Bremerton. She spearheaded the development of an innovative Health Equity Charter aimed at addressing and improving healthcare system disparities for military beneficiaries. Advising leadership on matters of diversity, equity, and organizational climate, she led the annual Climate Assessment survey for three consecutive years. This survey, distributed to approximately 1,000 employees, informed and facilitated 13 successful process improvement initiatives that advanced the command's mission and performance.

Dr. Washington's expertise and contributions have been featured in numerous publications, including ASHA journals, the "I Am Navy Medicine" series, and The Gazette, a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper. In 2022, she was competitively selected for the prestigious Harvard Medical School Career Advancement and Leadership Skills for Women in Healthcare Program, where she further enhanced her skills in strategic planning, organizational impact, resource management, and quality improvement.

Her distinguished service has been recognized with Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and commendations from esteemed Navy leaders such as Rear Admiral Timothy Weber (Ret.), Captain Patrick Fitzpatrick, Captain Shannon Johnson, and Captain Rosemary Malone.
