Performing Voice Clinic
Overview
The Performing Voice Clinic at the University of Washington Medical Center is dedicated to connecting performing artists ages 16+ to our team of fellowship-trained laryngologists and speech pathologists. We work with performing artists as a collaborative team to meet your personal voice needs and goals with the least invasive measures. Our mission is to improve access to voice care for vocal performers and professionals. We aim to address medically urgent voice needs within 48 hours. Less urgent issues will be evaluated during a prioritized multidisciplinary clinic. We also offer independent evaluations with our performing voice specialized speech pathologists to expedite wait times. The speech pathologist will consult with our laryngologists as needed. Unlike a standard ENT visit, you will be evaluated with videostroboscopy while singing or acting to help us understand and treat exactly what is getting in the way of your vocal performance. We are happy to collaborate with your voice and theatre teachers to ensure that you are receiving coordinated care from all who support you on your journey to vocal recovery. If surgical care is required, our surgeons can provide precise recommendations and treatment that are tailored to the performing population.
